Indian Folkloric Tales

I was blessed to have a beautiful soul as my mother-in-law. Amita Kumari Bose was a published author from India. She had only an 8thgrade education but her husband who was a scholar, taught her how to write. She was fascinated by the folkloric tales of India that had been told to her as a small girl.  These stories had been passed down generation to generation by her Bengali family.  Some are simple fairy tales, some are moralistic, and all are fantasy.

I am photo-illustrating two of the stories,Cobra Girl and The Pomegranate Fairy. I decided to combine old photos from my travels in India with new photographs created to illustrate the tales.  I blend images that are poignant to me. Cobra Girlis a tale of a princess who falls in love with a prince. She is human, but her father is a King Cobra. The main characters in The Pomegranate Fairyare twins, one being a good fairy and the other evil.
